Speech Enabled
Our website offers the ability to convert text into speech. This allows users to highlight sections of text, then you can can listen to an automated voice read this text to you.
This facility is provided by using a program called ‘Browse-a-loud’.
Before being able to use the speech facility you must install a program onto your PC. This program is also used by a large number of other web sites such as BBC, British Telecom etc. A full list can be found on the Browsealoud website. Click here to view this list.

How to get Browsealoud on to your Computer
To install the Browsealoud facility on your computer click on the icon below.

This will automatically redirect you to the download site. Full instructions are available.
Installed and Ready to Use
Once the program has been installed you will see the symbol (a bit like a bullseye) in the bottom right hand of your PC.
If you visit a website that has Speech enabled text then the icon will change with a yellow tick showing. You can then select text to be converted.
If you click your mouse over the bullseye icon you can change certain features such as a male/female voice etc.
