Introducing Angus Housing Association’s Savings & Loan Scheme
The Savings & Loan Scheme can help you if you want to open a savings account or if you want a loan.
Angus Housing Association has joined forces with Dunfermline Building Society to create the Savings & Loan Scheme exclusively for our tenants and sharing owners who wish to save or borrow.
How does the Savings account work?
Angus Housing Association has placed money in an account with Dunfermline Building Society. When you open an account and start saving, your account enjoys the same rate of interest as the Association’s deposit.
This means that you don’t have to save large amounts to benefit from a competitive rate of interest.
Once you’ve had your savings account for an agreed period the Society can also consider you for a small loan.
Savings Account Benefits:
- Accounts can be opened with as little as £1 deposit.
- Dunfermline Building Society will even provide a £1 voucher to open the account.
- You can save as much or as little as you like.
- Competitive rate of interest.
- Instant access to your money.
How do I open a Savings Account?
Opening an account is easy:
- Contact our Savings and Loans Officer who will provide written confirmation that you are a tenant or sharing owner and eligible to join the scheme.
- Take your £1 voucher to any of Dunfermline’s branches or its agents listed on the back of the £1 voucher.
- Bring along your identification requirements and the confirmation letter provided by Angus Housing Association.
- Fill in an application form (you can get this from branches of Dunfermline Building Society, Angus Housing Association or from the Savings and Loans Officer).
When your account has been opened the Society will give you a passbook for recording your savings and withdrawals. This passbook must be produced whenever you want to make withdrawals.
How do I apply for a loan?
Providing your rent account is clear, you have no other charges outstanding and have made a minimum of two deposits to your savings account over a period of three months with Dunfermline Building Society, you may make an application for a small loan.
Arranging a small loan through the Savings & Loan Scheme lets you take advantage of a number of benefits:
- Loans are easy to apply for.
- Loans of up to £500 can be arranged.
- A repayment term of up to 2 years.
- Competitive interest rate.
You can apply for a loan by contacting Angus Housing Association’s Savings and Loans Officer, where you will complete a loan application form.
If you are eligible, Dunfermline Building Society will agree loan repayment terms with you and make arrangements to pay the loan to you.
How will my loan application be processed?
Dunfermline Building Society will deal with your application. They will check with us that you are a tenant or a sharing owner.
They will also carry out credit checks to make sure you have not been declared bankrupt or owe large amounts of money to other organisations. Full details of the checks that will be made are given on the loan application form.
What happens if I don’t keep up loan repayments?
Dunfermline Building Society will use their debt recovery procedures to recover the debt. If necessary they will take Court Action against you.
What happens if I move house?
If you move, and are no longer a Angus Housing Association tenant or a sharing owner, you must keep to the original repayment arrangements until the loan is paid off.
Similarly, you can also keep your savings account and enjoy the same rate of interest.
