Stuart Storrie

Stuart Storrie – Committee Member – Joined 23rd September 2020

I have had an interesting and varied career to date, initially serving my time as an auto electrician before moving to a social care position with Tayside Region.

I qualified as a social worker in 1992 and worked predominantly in Dundee in child and adult care for the next 10 years, operating at various management levels before being seconded to NHS Tayside. In my commissioning role I was responsible for the entire resettlement programme for all long-stay hospitals in Tayside across Learning Disabilities and Mental Health.

This role introduced me to independent care and housing providers, including a number of interesting projects with Angus HA. It is this connection that drew me to the application to be a committee member with the Association.

Having worked on a permanent basis with NHS Tayside for 10 years I moved to a private care provider as operations director to lead and manage their specialist care division. Following this I worked for two years with the Care Inspectorate as a strategic inspector, which included regulatory inspections of health and social care partnerships but also accompanying colleagues in service inspections.

Following this, I became executive director at Fernbrae hospital in Dundee and later that year took on an additional hospital, the Albyn in Aberdeen. I worked in these roles for almost 5 years before retiring in September 2020.
