Housing Support Services

The Association is registered with the Care Commission to provide housing support services.
In addition to the housing support provided at our sheltered housing schemes in Arbroath, the Association can also provide assistance in accessing support for all tenants.

We recognise that managing your tenancy can sometimes be difficult.

Issues like those listed below can seem impossible to resolve but help is available, ask your Housing Officer for more information.

  • Rent Arrears
  • Managing Other Debts
  • Neighbour Problems
  • Shopping / Household Management
  • Home Safety
  • Social Isolation
  • Accessing other services / training/employment
PROMOTING INDEPENDENCE

The aim of housing support is to help people to live independently in their own home.

It allows people to maintain their accommodation, meet their responsibilities as a tenant and get involved in the community.

SHELTERED HOUSING SUPPORT SERVICE

The Association has two Sheltered Housing Schemes in Arbroath.  Staff provide housing support to older people in their own homes.  Each tenant has a housing support plan which outlines the assistance needed to ensure they can maintain their tenancy.

Sheltered Housing Scheme Managers work on site Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm with out of hours cover provided via the tenants call system to Angus Community Alarm Service who provide ’mobile wardens’ when staff are off site.  This means that every tenant has access to emergency assistance, if required 24 hours a day.  Scheme managers work closely with other services to ensure tenants continue to live independently in a safe and secure environment.  This includes health services, homecare services, other social services and voluntary agencies who work in the area.

The service also provides for activities in communal lounges at the schemes where tenants also have access to laundry facilities and guest bedroom accommodation.

POINTING YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

While the Association does not employ staff directly to provide housing support services outwith sheltered housing, assistance can be sought from other agencies operating in Dundee and Angus.

The Senior Housing Officer  can visit and explain the services available to you.  A housing support assessment is used to ensure that any other aspects of support you may need can be discussed i.e., need for adaptations to your property, welfare rights advice.

Funding Housing Support

Sheltered Housing Support is funded via Angus Council.  An assessment to establish whether you can get funding is carried out as part of the overall assessment
