Autumn Adventures: Family Fun Day in Dundee!

During our rent October School holidays, our Tenant Participation hosted a free family fun event in our Dundee Community lounge.

The event featured crafts inspired by autumn, such as creating hedgehogs from pinecones and designing tote bags with Halloween themes, entertainment magician – Harry Mudini, face-painting and a visit from our local Fire and Rescue Service who brought along their fire engine for kids explore and ask questions.

The Fire Safety Team also brought along a “smoke demonstration” tent, which aims to educate and raise awareness of fire safety and prevention. The smoke simulation tent provided local children and families with an opportunity to experience how rapidly smoke can fill a space and obscure visibility. They were also given potentially life-saving advice on how to respond in a fire emergency, as well as highlighting the importance of regularly testing smoke and heat alarms in their homes.

Jacqui Fleming, Tenant Participation Assistant states,

“As Bonfire Night approaches, we’re urging everyone to celebrate safely. Organising fire safety events are a vital way to raise awareness of the dangers involved with fires, how we can protect our communities and prevent accidents”

The well-attended event was also a valuable opportunity for us to engage directly with tenants, giving them the chance to speak with staff, ask questions, and share their views.

We understand that keeping children entertained during the holidays can be expensive, so we were pleased to offer this free event to the local community, which also included a free lunch provided by Rough & Frasers.
