Angus Housing Association is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Dogs Trust Pet Friendly Accreditation, recognising its commitment to creating more inclusive and compassionate housing for tenants with pets.
The accreditation highlights the Association’s work to develop clear, fair and supportive pet policies, placing the needs of tenants and their animals at the heart of its approach. Angus Housing Association is among the first social landlords to take part in this pioneering pilot programme, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to tenant wellbeing.
The achievement was recently highlighted in a podcast hosted by Jimmy Black and Kieran Findlay of Scottish Housing News, featuring Angus Housing Association’s Director of Housing Services, Linlay Anderson, alongside Jennifer Leonard, Pet Friendly Housing Lead at Dogs Trust. The discussion explored the growing national movement to make pet policies more transparent and tenant-focused, as well as what it means in practice for landlords to adopt a pet-friendly approach.
Jennifer Leonard outlined how clearer, more compassionate policies can support both tenants and landlords, helping to reduce barriers for pet owners while encouraging responsible pet ownership. Linlay Anderson also emphasised the importance of recognising the positive role pets play in people’s lives and the value of creating housing environments that reflect this.
For many tenants, pets are an important part of the family, providing companionship, improving wellbeing and supporting mental health. Angus Housing Association’s recognition reflects a strong commitment to supporting tenants in maintaining these important relationships, while ensuring that communities remain safe and well-managed.
Speaking about the accreditation, the Association highlighted its pride in being recognised for its progressive approach and reaffirmed its dedication to supporting tenants and their pets across all communities.
