Budgeting

The first step in taking control of your money is making a budget. Work out how much money you have coming in and what you are spending it on. It can help you stay on top of your bills and start saving.

Click here for a handy online budget planner. Or you can draw up your budget using tools like a spreadsheet or even just a notebook. It’s a good idea to constantly review your budget especially if your income or your expenditure changes, to ensure you are financially secure.

Once you have put your budget together, check if you have enough income coming in to cover all the important bills and things like food and fuel.
