New damp and mould legislation

🏠 New damp and mould protections for tenants from 6th October 2026

Due to new regulations being introduced under Awaab’s Law, social landlords are required to meet stricter standards and timescales when responding to reports of damp and mould. To help tenants understand these changes and know what to expect when reporting an issue, Angus Housing Association has launched a dedicated Damp and Mould Information Hub on its website.

The new webpage provides clear guidance on how to report damp and mould, the steps we will take following a report, and the timescales we must work to when investigating and addressing problems. It has been designed to make the process as transparent as possible, ensuring tenants understand every stage of their damp and mould journey.

The hub includes information on:

  • How to report damp and mould
  • What happens once a report is received
  • Investigation and response timescales
  • Preventing damp, mould and condensation in the home
  • Support available to tenants
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Access to our Damp and Mould Guide

Angus Housing Association is committed to providing safe, warm and healthy homes for all tenants. The introduction of Awaab’s Law reinforces the importance of responding quickly and effectively to damp and mould, and we welcome the opportunity to provide greater clarity around our approach.

If you are experiencing damp or mould in your home, please contact us as soon as possible so we can investigate and provide support.
