Angus Housing Association officially opened their new Doon Place development in July 2025.

The new build development transformed the site of the former St Vincent’s Primary School in Dundee. In it’s place now is a diverse development of twenty-one, high quality and affordable homes. Providing much needed homes to the East End of Dundee.

The development includes a cottage style supported accommodation unit that has been carefully designed to support independent living, featuring walk-in showers, rise-and-fall worktops, and adjustable kitchen units to accommodate varying mobility needs.

We were thrilled to have new tenant Deborah Walker officially open the site. Deborah, her husband, and daughter have recently moved into one of the 2-bedroom flats. she added –

“I absolutely love my new spacious flat – it is just fantastic. I was struggling to manage the stairs in my old property due to health issues, having this all on-one level property has lifted such a burden off my shoulders. I am also extremely impressed with our garden, a manageable space with enough room for my husband’s greenhouse to grow tomatoes.”

Chief Executive, Gail Robertson, stated at the event:

“The opening of Doon Place marks a significant milestone in the continued regeneration of Dundee’s East End. Standing on the former derelict site where St Vincent’s Primary School once stood, we now see a vibrant new housing development. This project is more than just bricks and mortar. It is about people. It is about creating high-quality, affordable homes in a time of great housing need. It is also about ensuring that everyone—regardless of their circumstances—has the chance to live independently in a safe and secure environment”.

We were pleased to have Councillor Dorothy McHugh (pictured left on top photo) come along to our opening event, she noted.

“I was delighted to be invited to the opening event of the Doon Place development. These attractive new properties, delivered by Angus Housing Association, will help to provide much needed affordable homes for our local people. I was especially impressed with the supported accommodation unit, thoughtfully designed, and laid out to support independent living.”
